The Plamil Arthur Ling Memorial Awards
In memory of vegan pioneer and ethical innovator Arthur Ling, who founded Plamil, the UK’s first vegan company, back in the 60’s, a new annual award programme has been set up. People from all around the UK have been asked to help find and nominate worthy winners for this award.

Adrian Ling, who runs Plamil Foods who initiated this new award said “We couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate our family’s spirit of innovation and also encourage, publicise and reward new people and innovative projects that are making a difference to people, animals and the environment.”

Adrian will be announcing the winner of the first award on Sunday at 3pm on the main stage, and his company Plamil are also sponsoring the BVF 07.

The fun doesn’t stop once the festival closes for the evening on Saturday – a short walk away and we have the most gorgeous setting for a laid back session providing the ideal opportunity for everyone to chill out after a hard day at the show. And later on that nite the cream of Bristol’s finest from back in the day will be dropping a few tunes as we continue the uplifting vibe of the day.

Café Maitreya wins best veggie restaurant

Bristol veggie/vegan haven Café Maitreya has been named the Observer Food magazine's vegetarian restaurant of the year

"The award comes after winning the Vegetarian Society's top award the last two years’ says Rob from Cafe Maitreya, ‘and has left us somewhat overwhelmed. We're surprised, delighted and touched that so many people put our name forward. We really do feel honored - and motivated to continue striving to meet the high standards expected. We've only been open 5 years and feel we still have improvements to make. We won't be resting on our laurels but want to continue to aim for the best we can be.
As usual we've been busy trying to make the most of local seasonal ingredients. The menu is changing fairly rapidly at the moment but you're likely to see interesting things with nettle, wild garlic and Wye Valley asparagus."
