007 Awards

The winners of the Yaoh 007 Vegan Environmental Awards were announced last June at the Bristol Vegan Fayre 07- but it's only now that the winners have been presented with their certificates - hand drawn by vegan cartoon superhero Wonderpig, who recently was able to present 5 of the 7 awards in pig/person to the winners.

First off was Infinity Wholefoods down in Brighton where Wonderpig caused a storm when he appeared in the flesh at the Infinity party on Nov 29th at the shop itself. Now it has to be said that if there was anywhere in the UK that could deal successfully with large pink fluffy pigs appearing without getting fazed it had to be Brighton and Wonderpig certainly endeared himself to an adoring crowd as he presented Infinity with the award for Best Vegan Independent Healthstore, as voted for by the people of the world online during 2007.

Three days later Wonderpig descended upon Animal Aid's Christmas Without Cruelty show to present four more awards - this time to Vegan Village for Best Vegan Media/Publication, Viva! for Best Vegan Organisation, Veganstore.co.uk for Best Vegan On Line Shop, and Redwood Wholefoods for Best Vegan Company.

Congratulations also to our two other winners - Benjamin Zephaniah (The Best Vegan Individual Achievement) and Booja Booja Truffles (Best Vegan Product).

And well done to everyone else too who was nominated - there were a lot of close calls and you can see the full list of results here: award results

	008 Awards The 008 Vegan Environmental Awards have now been announced - and you can see the 8 categories and the nominees in each category - a stunning total of 64 people, products, businesses and organisations that are contributing to the growth of the vegan lifestyle across the UK and beyond. Voting starts Jan 1st 2008 and you can vote once a month every month until the end of May - the winners will be announced Sunday June 1st 08 at the Bristol Vegan Fayre. 	Upcoming Events…. Wow! 3 major vegan events across the UK on the same day! This vegan thing is happening!!!!!!!!!!! The 4th annual East Midlands Vegan Festival is in Nottingham on Dec 8th - this one is a brilliant show organised by Veggies and inspired by House of Life. Yaoh won't be there in person, but thanks to all the wonderful volunteers working on the show, and especially Beth, we have a stall there with all our products! Magic. Thanks to all at Veggies for organising this one. See here for details On the same day (Dec 8th) there's also the Exeter Xmas Without Cruelty bash, which will see loads of stalls, demos etc, organised by Animal Aid and their local supporters. Our good pals BEANIE'S will have some of the Yaoh range on their stall, in amongst their lush range of FRY'S veggieburgers and their rather stunning vegan B'Nice rice Ice Cream. See here for details. There's a huge demo being lined up in London - the Vegan Climate March 2007. On Saturday 8th December, vegetarians and vegans from across the UK will be taking part in the "biggest ever mobilisation of vegetarians and vegans on environmental grounds!!" The annual Climate March & Rally in London is expected to attract up to 30,000 environmentalists. Vegans will march in support of the campaign and will add their own message - "Fight Climate Change with your Knife and Fork!!". See here for more info North West Vegan Festival The North West Vegan Festival will be held on Sat 26th Jan 2008 in a massive hall at the Sachas Hotel - right in the centre of Manchester. Yaoh are thrilled to announce sponsorship for this event, and are encouraging others to get behind the show to make it a huge success. 	Bristol Vegan Fayre 2008 The BVF 08 site is now live and updated for the 2008 show - you can see all about what's happening at this two day extravaganza in the centre of Bristol next summer May 31st/June1st 08. Over 160 stalls, 6 talks and demos area including Raw Food Prep Classes, loads of entertainment, bands and the like plus an absolutely huge headline act who are as yet unconfirmed but provisionally booked to ensure an absolutely massive turn out! Xmas Bristol Vegans party
The date and venue have yet to be set but should be announced shortly on the vegan Bristol website - expect a lively feast with plenty of xmas spirit, excellent food, loads of beer and more outrageous jokes from Jason. The group has over 100 on its email list, and 15 - 20 of us regularly turn out every 6- 8 weeks for what has turned into a real giggle and most excellent company.
